I am a black, Somali-Norwegian, Muslim, woman and mother. I have been serving individuals and families through various forms of therapy and community work since 2011. Through the years I have gained experience working with a wide range of ages and family make-ups. I have seen the ways in which therapy can be made to feel inaccessible, whether because of busy schedules, money/insurance, negative experiences with “therapy,” or an assumption that “my problems aren’t big enough for that.” My hope is to make healing and personal growth feel accessible for everyone.
In terms of my academic background, I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Salem State University in 2016, and am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. While dissertating and seeing clients, I also work as a graduate research assistant and teach MSW students.
